Cricketers of the Year 2023-24

Andy Farley Shield - Senior Cricketer of the Year

Ben Parsons (Bathurst)


After 3 seasons with the Gordon Cricket Club in NSW Premier Cricket, Parsons returned to St Pats Old Boys for this season, earning his maiden call up for Western Zone and then NSW Country.


At the National Country Championships in Newcastle, Ben picked up 9 wickets at 16.56. In BOIDC First Grade he nabbed 21 wickets before his season ended early with a broken hand in the last round prior to finals. Ben also made 258 runs batting mostly in his new position in the top order for his club.


In all matches this season, Parsons collected 44 wickets at an average of 14, including a best of 7/42 in what was his final match of the season against Orange City, as well as making 408 runs at an average of over 27.

 

David Lester Trophy - Colts Cricketer of the Year

Tom Blowes (Orange)


Tom Blowes was part of the National Under 17 Championship winning NSW Country team this season where he was a regular contributor with both bat and ball.


Tom also made his senior representative debut this season, for Orange, Central West and was selected in the Western Zone squad for the Plan B Country Bash and the McDonalds Country Championships. He also represented Western Zone at the Country Colts carnival and played for the Central West Colts team


Tom was also part of the BOIDC premiership winning Cavaliers team where he scored 183 runs and collected 14 wickets including his first 5 wicket haul in first grade.

In all matches, Tom picked up 45 wickets and scored 508 runs with the bat this season.

 

Carolyn Sheehan Trophy - Female Cricketer of the Year

Holly Reed (Orange)


Holly represented NSW Country at the Under 16 Female National Championships where she scored 117 runs at 23.40 and took 3 wickets. Holly also represented Western Zone at the NSW Country Under 16s Female Championships and was selected for the Under 16 Female State Challenge on her way to gaining selection for NSW Country.


Holly’s busy season also included playing for Orange CYMS’ Under 16s, a few matches in the senior grades, some rep cricket for Orange Under 14s, the Orange junior carnival and the Max Shepherd Shield. We count 47 matches all up.


Kellys Bakery Trophy - Junior Cricketer of the Year

Blayde Burke (Bathurst)

As the captain of Western Zone’s Under 16 (Bradman Cup) team, Blayde picked up 10 wickets at an average of 18.80 across his 7 matches. On his journey to the Western Zone side, Blayde represented Central West and Bathurst in Under 16s.


Blayde also took up an opportunity to show his wares for NSW Premier Cricket club, UNSW, playing in the AW Green Shield and Poidevin-Gray Shield competitions during the season.

Blayde capped off his season with selection in the Under 17 NSW Country Academy Squad, along with Central West team-mate Cooper Pullen.
